The Logic of a 4 Year Old

The weather here has been warm and sunny for the last week and yesterday we decided to have a picnic in our backyard. We were laying outside and Lily just HAD TO HAVE her sunglasses because, "it's hot out here". I went inside with her to help her look for them. We searched everywhere and could not find them. She had two conclusions as to what could have happened to them. She very matter of factually said, "Maybe something ate them." and then, "Maybe they are magic." Both seemed pretty logical, I thought. But do not worry, they are not in anyone or anything's belly, nor did they magically disappear. We found them an hour or so later.

Photo Assignment 4- LIGHT

This weeks assignment was Light as a Subject. The first one is Michael's shadow; he was holding a water bottle. The second is Lily's dress..... again. . I had not intended on using it for my assignment, but for some reason I stuck it up in the window while I was taking pictures for my other post, and I thought it looked cool with the light coming through and making it almost transparent. I took a picture and it turned into an assignment:)

A girl in class commented that she thought it would bee cooler if I had used an old wooden hanger to give the photo a more vintage feel. I think it would have been super cool if I could have done that. Too bad I don't have any. I don't even have wire hangers anymore because I used them all to unclog the drains at our old apartment!

Lily's Dress

Ever since I saw this dress pattern, I knew I HAD to have it. I waited forever to buy the pattern because They are pricey ($15.00) and I thought if I waited I would find a deal. However, when I heard the Jump Rope Dress was going out of print I decided to give in and just buy it and I'm sooooooo glad I did!! I LOVE THIS DRESS and the best part is that Lily does too:)
It's an intermediate pattern, but it was full of detail and helpful hints. It was my first experience with a collar, a placket, and buttonholes and I didn't have to rip one seam! I really love all the cute little details on this dress like the cuffed sleeves with the cute little tabs, the pockets, and the sash and belt loops. I think I might go back and buy the toddler sizes... Here are the photos of Lily loving her dress. And don't mind the blue marks on it; I didn't want to take the time to wash it before having a photo shoot. I was just too excited!!!:)

ps. I bought my pattern along with another one from fabric.com. I also bought two yards of inexpensive fabric so I could qualify for the free shipping for orders over $35. Oh, and the fabric I used for Lily's dress was purchased at a garage sale by my mom:) Thanks Mom!

Photography

These photos are the 2nd and 3rd assignments for my photo class. The first assignment was a film assignment and I never scanned my pictures. Eventually I will but for now I'll show you these:)

Assignment 2 was to show one example of shallow depth of field and one with a large depth of field

Shallow

Large:
I don't love this photo. But I think it demonstrates an adequate example of large depth of field.

The assignment for this week was to take one photo that captures motion (shows motion) and to take one that freezes motion. I am very happy with my photos this week!! I especially enjoyed the photo session with my brother:)
